I had a very pleasant surprise the other day. A visitor to this site, who volunteers for FreeREG, contacted me to tell me that there is a transcription of a marriage record for William Jeary of Stiffkay (sic) and Elizabeth Lane of Binham, both single, by licence on 15 Feb 1738/39 in Baconsthorpe.

Ruling out Shipdham as the place of William & Elizabeth Jary’s wedding

Since the Norfolk parish register images are now online, I decided to try to find the Shipdham marriage of William Jairy & Elizabeth Sherey, the couple which some researchers think may have been the same William & Elizabeth Jary who baptised many children in Stiffkey beginning in 1739.

Construction in Blakeney, mid-1700s

Under the gravel walk at the east front of the parsonage-house is a large and deed drain filled with large stones to receive the water falling from the house, it was made in April 1766.
